Kate's love affair with CrossFit

When did you start CrossFit?

I started CrossFit around 6 months after moving to Margs. I’d tried another couple of gyms but couldn’t find my happy place in them.

What were your initial thoughts about joining or not joining?

I’d always been a bit scared of CrossFit, I thought it was going to be ultra full on!

Can you remember how you felt in your first few weeks?

I was frustrated and I remember being a bit teary as lots of new things to learn and was a bit overwhelmed but I’m so glad I stuck with it! All the coaches were great and it’s so amazingly fulfilling when you finally smash a lift or get a great PB on something I couldn’t even do when I started!

What do you love most about CFMR and your CrossFit Journey?

It’s so much more than just a gym. It’s a lifestyle! I love being surrounded by motivational, supportive people who many of, have become great friends. It’s hugely helped my transition to Margs. I love coming to training, there’s always something new and fun to learn, lots of laughs and support. I love that I can tangibly see I’m getting stronger and fitter. I love the challenges that come with gymnastics and pull ups and that it appeals to my competitive nature as I can constantly push myself to lift more and do better! I’m fully hooked, loved my first competition at the weekend and now have a higher benchmark to work towards to feel good

What would you say to someone who is thinking about joining CFMR, but hasn’t yet?

If you’re a fun, open minded, positive human looking for a challenging, achievable and engaging training environment then this is for you!
